Fix the taxi fare
Agree the price with a petit taxi before you get in, or ask for the meter — “le compteur, s’il vous plaît.” Short hops across town cost little.
A little French, a little Darija
French gets you everywhere here, but a few words of Darija — salam, choukran, bslama — earn real smiles.
Dress modestly
Casablanca is relaxed, but cover shoulders and knees around Habous and the Hassan II Mosque; you may need to cover more inside the mosque.
Carry cash
The Marché Central back-stalls and cookshops are cash only. Keep small dirham notes; ATMs are easy to find downtown.
Take the tram
The tram is the easy, cheap, safe way across town and simple to ride solo. Buy a card, tap in, skip the traffic.
Land already online
Signal is good across the city, but skip the airport SIM queue: download offline maps and land with a Morocco eSIM already installed.
